Cheka Kidogo

The photographer Rankin is exhibiting some really good work down on South Bank, I admit its cold but it’s a good viewing.
Produced in the Congo, he captures the true personalities of some of those living in one of the most troubled places on earth.
The images are part of Oxfam in action; limited edition prints are sold to raise money for those in the images. (I think?)

I went down the other day and thought it was amazing, its not often you get to see images of people in the Congo actually looking happy or even representing anything of which they themselves like to do, this gives a greater feeling of reality, as we are constantly bombarded with images of starving children as a shock factor to give money, I think in a way it kind of becomes the norm to view such images or footage as something distanced from our own lives so we no longer feel the need to help.

I may be chatting shit, but what do you think??

CHE

Ok so this might be a little typical of a students post but hey I am a student so I’m trapped in a world of pretentious goons pretending they don’t care when really do....and thinking they know a little about rebellion when really us English don’t have shit on the Greeks, or so it seems!

So yeah in my time I read a bit about Che Guevara and watched motor cycle diaries (I like Spanish films with English subtitling...gives me a chance to practice the art of reading)

Part 1,In cinemas, 1st January 2009...Thats right theres 2 parts...I might just go?!?!

Lifting off the Veil:The true extent of Britain's debt.

Another boring post, having said that, in my opinion this is the most significant human event taking place in the 21st Century, if you exclude the genocide consistently happening in the various parts of the world. Unless of course, I am delusional and reading all the wrong journals, blogs and broadsheets.

So, in the world I live in, we are in the midst of witnessing a 'First World' country collapsing into an extraodinary situation, which I would not necessarily call a 'recession'. If the UK was a company, I dont think it would be allowed to
trade, period, in addition the directors would be black-listed by Companies House and possible litigation by their shareholders.

Below is an excerpt from this months issue of 'The Spectator'.

THE TRUE EXTENT OF BRITIAN'S DEBT

Fraser Nelson
Wednesday, 10th December 2008

How much is Britain’s true national debt? Gordon Brown says 37% of GDP, the ONS says 43% of GDP – but this is just government debt. The reason Britain is in so much trouble is that our corporate and household debts are huge. It is the combination that makes us such a credit liability – but no one has ever put together a combination.

Until now.

Michael Saunders from CitiGroup has calculated ‘external debt’ – ie, what Britain owes the rest of the world. It is not 40% but 400% of GDP, the highest in the G7 by some margin. The next down, France, is 176%. America, flagellating itself for blowing such a debt bubble, is just 100%. Japan is about half America. The below graph shows ‘external debt’ – both in mid-2008, and five years ago.

G7 Countries - external debt/GDP ratios, 2003Q2 - 2008 Q2

Narrow it down to short-term debt, ie IOUs that have to be paid back within a year, and the picture grows even bleaker. It adds up to 300% of GDP – six times that of France whose loans are long-term. Saunders says, with some understatement, that this makes “the UK economy and financial system highly vulnerable when, as now, global banking and capital flows dries up.” Here is the picture, narrowed down to short- term debt (ie, due by next Christmas).

?uestlove's Top Tips For 2009 (Video)

Very interesting interview. ?uestlove reckons 2009 will be Jim Jones & Ron Browz' year...I mean, "Pop Champagne" is a certified banger, but c'mon, Jimmy & Browz?! I dunno man, that's a fairly far-out decision...

For me, it'll most likely be Wale or Kid Cudi. As far as major players go, I got the feeling that Em's forthcoming album will be straight crack, whilst "Blueprint 3" is shaping up to be very solid indeed...

Unless Dre finally drops "Detox", Eminem & Jay will own 2009...

Your thoughts?

P.S. I agree on Twitter being the new thing to take off....

UK fears it's own children!

Thanks to Ruby Pseudo for this one...

Next on the scaremonger's agenda?.... our own KIDS!

WTF??!!

The stats to back this worrying, besieged mentality that some of the UK adult population have, can be seen here.

Make's you wonder what's coming next?

PS: All I can say is bring back the good old-fashioned system of "licks!!" and the adults would have nothing to worry about....

Addict Suk Balls!

WARNING THIS MAY BE EXTREMELY BORING...BUT I NEED TO VENT!

So at the beginning of the year, its cold like it is all through out the year in this damn country...i decided to buy a coat...so i went down to best sk8 store in plymouth (Devon...not on the out skirts of london as someone once said...its about 300+miles out) anyways i saw this big ass nice n toasty addict coat...in the girls section which was surprising and it was half price from £125...bargin!

Anyways it lasted a month and then the furry bit around the hood fell off...i was pissed!! I emailed Addict...nicely...saying what had happened and they were kind enough to send me some book...i aint looked at it since it came through the post!

So yeah everythings ok with my broken coat...next i go back to my home town like a month ago to meet up with some friends in some run down club in Torquay...bouncer tells me to put my big ass jacket in the cloakroom...so i did paying my £1...
Came back just after 3am and the dumb woman gave it to some dude who said he'd lost his ticket!!! After a month of calling the manager...to try get my money back, not the £1 of course but the whole £125...might aswell try i got the labels...he finally agrees if i buy one and bring the reciept he will pay me back!

So feeling the spirit of Addict..i order another coat...its been a week...the money has been taken out of my account £70...and still i see nothing...so i call up, the dude explains...did you not get my email saying there is no more in that size!!! arrgghhh no i didnt...and why take the fonkin money out if there none in that size!!!

So yeah im thinking Addict are a little unlucky for me!!!

OR am i just really unlucky??!?!?!

Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes (Video)

"Ladies let me see you get down low!"

For my overseas readers, the "Funky House" (Note: It's actually Afro-House/Afrobeat) movement has been taking the UK by storm this past year, what with tracks by DJ NG, Ear Dis, Crazy Cousinz & DJ Mujava tearing down raves.

This new joint from K.I.G's DJ Dexter is next in line to make some serious noise. It's simple, it's catchy, and the beat's pretty solid.

Expect to see a million and one different dance tutorials plastered over Youtube. I'll stick to my diddy bop.

BONUS! Get it while it's here:

Interesting, but confusing too....

Busta Causing Controversy...Wave Dubai to credit crunch!

So, it seems like the credit crisis isn't crunching everyone! (see what I did there??)

Furthermore this Dilla affiliate (and there??) is sooo paid he just thought he'd
let you..well...we bruck-pockets know how he's rolling!

I'm sure you've all heard this tune before, and even learned the dance...

But if you're on radio, beware. A little bird told me that a certain few
regional radio DJs have already been suspended for playing said track,
and lots of youtube comments show opinion of it is divided.

Other than the fact that half the track is actually gibberish, is it really that offensive?

What do y'all think?
