Mad props to Mistajam for giving me the opportunity to do a guest mix for his BBC 1Xtra show last Tuesday. His show has been graced with mixes from some extremely talented DJs & producers, so I knew I had to come up with something hot...

The end result? A mixture of Southern Hip Hop, Grime, Dubstep and D&B, plus a few exclusive re-edits/blends for your listening pleasure, and also some of that scratching/juggling stuff ;)

DJ Cable "The Mash Down: Vol. 1"

I've been promising you a mixtape since the start of this year...so here it is!

Rather than do Weekly Mixes, I'll be doing them on a Monthly basis. Each mix will vary in genre, or will be a cross-genre mashup...Hip Hop, D&B, Electro/Fidget, Dubstep, House - There'll be something for everyone...

So, to kick start this year's set of mixes I've gone in with a dope D&B mix for you to check out. There's a nice mixture of jump up, tech-step, disco, vocal & liquid D&B here for your ears.

I've taken the name for this series - "The Mash Down" - from the rather excellent track by Noah D, which will be released digitally next month on RTDLTD. I think it kinda sums up the whole theme pretty well.

DJ Cable's Weekly Mix #52

Once again, it's time for another Weekly Mix...Well in fact, it's the last ever Weekly Mix of the series...But don't fret! I'll be back with more mixes next year....just not every week lol!

So for this week's final mix, and due to Khal's recommendation, I went in with a nice selection of D&B for your ears...Jump up, Liquid, Disco, Vocals...It's all there. Track of the week - Fight muzik!

I've been on the same vibe as Snips of recent, plus going Thai boxing this week and watching Hatton's fight has got me ready for some arms, but I couldn't decide from the numerous hiphop tunes that make me wanna punch someone, so to be different, you got a Drum & Bass fight song!

Pendulum - the new prodigy?

Spawned out of the land of drum n bass in 2003, the Oz trio hailing from Perth, have landed the number 2 spot in the album charts this week.

Donned as "the new Prodigy", I checked out their myspace page to see how far "In silico" had progressed from the dance collectives' 165 bpm roots. A fusion of cheesy synths and wanky vocals over a backdrop of rock & dnb. Definitely not a revolutionary sound, reminiscient of the Prodigy, but a synthetic formula masked by banging drums and sophisticated production. Couldn't help but cringe as I flicked through the tracks.

Probably have to reach the next dnb rave strapped after this, haha - gonna have to brave it!

Anyways, rant over and big ups for passing through.
