This was originally done as a mashup for my BBC 1Xtra Guest Mix for Mistajam back in February. I figured that it worked so well, I though I'd make it into a proper blend. I've called it a quick hitter as it's only the first verse and chorus; the reason being that the rest of the acapella doesn't fit so well with the whole tune. Also, like myself, most DJs like to mix quickly, so it's always nice to have something short and sweet with a clean intro and outro.

Rock The Dub has been pivotal in both pushing the Thugstep sound, and inspiring DJs such as myself to get involved, so it was only right that we teamed up to put out a mix for the end of 2009. Things got even better when Jenai over at Ego Thieves got involved (props for the artwork!).

The end result? A heavy mix of Dubstep/Grime/Crunk, with some exclusive refixes, as well as the ones you know and love...

Whether you love it or hate it, THUGSTEP is here to stay. A Curious Tale

You know how it is, a couple of drinks and your curiosity sneaks up on you and strikes you on the back of the head with a swift and stout "I wonder what's going on at that party? How does it differ from this party?".

Well my friends, the self same thing happened to me only last night. I was helping a friend of mine to celebrate her birthday by demolishing a few bowls of punch. At some hour of the night, we noticed a bit of a gathering occurring at a house that backed onto her garden. They were playing shit music, so I decided to go and see just how shit a group of people they were. It turns out that they were very, very shit...

As I scaled the fence and crawled across the roof of their shed, I was feeling good. Like a flaming Commando. A flaming booze Commando, with a secret mission to execute a daring raid on these mysterious creatures. Well, not a raid as such, because I had bought my own beer and ciggies, and wanted for nothing but to fulfil my own curiosity. Which I did.

I dropped down from the other side of the garage and sauntered around the corner, introduced myself, explaining that they need not be alarmed as I was merely there to see what was happening. I was offered a seat, which I accepted, and got chatting to a chap from England. He was a chef, and quite a nice chap. There was a big Scottish chap sitting opposite me. He was an absolute cunt.

Time wore on, and their company was starting to grate on me. Mine on them also, I should imagine. So I sent a text to my friend to let her know that I was about to jump back over the fence and I would see everybody shortly. I made my excuses and was about to ascend the shed that led to the fence, when I realised that I was no longer in possession of my telephone. So I turned around and asked if anyone had seen it, and if somebody could possibly call it so I might hear it. It went straight to voicemail, which was strange as I had sent a text from it not two minutes before. At this point the big Scottish bastard flew into a rage, threatening me with all sorts of mistreatment and unpleasantries. He then threw me out the back gate and left me stranded in an alley, lost without my phone.

As you may well remember, I had not arrived at this party in the conventional manner. So to be faced with such a conventional method of departure threw me more than a little. I wandered down the hedged lane, trying to, firstly, piece together exactly where I was and where my friend lived in relation and, secondly, trying to piece together exactly what had just happened.

I eventually came to the conclusion that I had found the correct house by a devious method that I like to call trial and error. My friend met me at the door and I told my sorry tale. By this point it was evident that I had been robbed. The thought did cross my mind that I may simply have dropped the phone, but this didn't explain the staunch reaction from the party, or why it had gone straight to voicemail when called. So I decided to telephone the authorities and explain my situation to them.

Ben, the gentleman to whom I spoke at the switchboard, informed me that a Police car was on it's way to my friend's house, and could I wait outside to hail them. So I did. After about 10 minutes, a Police car arrived, and I could see three figures inside. And there was an unmarked car following them. Now, I was the first person to think that this show of force was perhaps a little unwarranted, but this is New Zealand, and I am but a foreigner, and therefore it is far from my place to start questioning the Authorities on their protocol and procedure. I arose from my perch on the wall and went to greet the officers in the marked car.

As the doors opened, I was greeted by a blinding influx of incandescence, a young lady with a clipboard and two police officers. It took me something of a while to process all of this new information, but I eventually came to the solid conclusion that I was about to make my television debut on some sort of fly on the wall police documentary.

I asked if the camera crew were really necessary, to which I received no reply from the officers; they merely delved in to the case at hand. So I began to narrate the very same story of which I have just told you, along with the very distinguishing features that my phone possesses, along with my particulars. Including my phone number. Who says that officers of the law have no sense of humour?

Particulars in hand, the officers and the film crew went to find the house and investigate my claim. Truth be known, I wasn't feeling too confident about being reunited with my property, but it was a matter of principal now. The manner with which I had been dealt was unsavoury to me, and by the power of my balls, justice would be served.

Lo and behold, the Police (camera man in tow) came back up the alleyway. One officer approached me and, with something of a flourish, produced my beloved telephone. I was amazed. He informed me that they had found it by a fence, and I am intrigued to find out where exactly, but I'll have to wait until Police 10-7 is aired in due course to find out.

So maybe I had just dropped it after all, but my friend's neighbours are definitely an inexcusably useless shower of shits.

STAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AT YOUR OWN PARTY. THE NEIGHBOURS ARE PROBABLY WANKERS

Joker is killing it right now (matter of fact everyone within the Bristol scene is doing a lot), and with his recent remix of Simian Mobile Disco, plus an album in the pipeline, 2010 looks like it could be his year.

I'd already put this Lil Scrappy acapella over Coki's "Shattered" a while back (last year, in fact), but thought I'd update it by putting over Joker & Ginz' filthy anthem "Re-Up". Plus, I think this one pisses over the original blend I put together...I've also added an extra 8 bar intro for the DJs...

Timbaland always comes correct with his beats (can you actually think of a wack Timbo beat?!), but I don't think this particular beat suits Jigga that well...Of all the tracks that have leaked so far "D.O.A." and (to an extent) "Run This Town" are the only ones that have impressed me...I really hope the rest of "Blueprint 3" is solid...

It's been a while since I hit you with a blend, or a mixtape for that matter...But have no fear, here's something to keep you occupied before "The Mash Down Vol. 3" drops next month.

Anyhow, whilst sorting out the tracklisting for the forthcoming mix, I came up with this as an idea for a transition between these two tracks. I made a DIY acapella of Tempa T's (aka Tempz) Grime anthem "Next Hype" (seeing as the studio acapella only got leaked to a couple of DJs) which came out near perfect, and used part of it over Rusko's banger "Mr. Muscle"...In my opinion, it worked so well that I decided to make a full Thugstep blend out of it.

This is definitely one of my favourite interviews and consequently has made me have pretty damn impure thoughts about Edmondson... and Sean a Paul- I standardly would grind my waist pon that. Pocket TV is something you need to invest time in. If you like me love getting aneurysms, ulcers and other fancy internal ailments because of leaving work to the last minute due to important things you were doing that couldn't wait (rearranging wardrobe by season, making sure the cat gets enough time on the balcony, eating what is not yours) well I have a new one for you watch.

Bit of nostalgia here for you... Secondary School I.T. WHY?

Secondary School I.T. lessons were just an excuse to do nothing, or catch up in the wasteful hour on homework due in for the next period... well that was the case at my school (also called the Pikey Dump) I remember being taught where to place my fingers on the keyboard I still know that but everything else I learnt from "eating chicken and chips and going on msn" as Afrikan boy would say.

God bless you Year 10 I.T. of doss magic, the throwing of various shit at each other, tasty gossip i.e. figuring out whose going out with who or who got caught with whom dry sexing on the grotty acidic stained 'I Luv Billy 4eva 01' tables in the science rooms and my personal favourite wondering how whats her name managed to "wipe the wrong way" after being told of dubious stains and smells in the cooch department earning her the name 'Feaces Flange' (as she was so kindly dubbed by a friend and I that used to be inseparable.)

However, the best was finally realising the magic of the Internet... searching for stupid things on the net like those ring tone codes you could type into your Nokia 3210, (I had the Ruff Riders Anthem *cough*) actually that was bangin, I want that monophonic kick ring tone back!

This is by far the best of it though, AMAZING. I read it again with fingers toes and hair (platted) crossed in hope it would still be as hilarious as it was when I was 14, and omg YES. I fucking LOVE 'Black People Love Us!' if you have never see it... where've you been and for those of you that have... take a walk down memory lane at some of the sheer genius from this amazing oldschool website.

I wish I had remembered this website when that prick from uni decided to argue with me about the fact that he felt that HE was completely warranted to grope MY hair and give me an S.S. style interrogation on just why my hair was as it is...

Neda is a name that has now become synonymous with those fighting for Mir Hossein Mousavi to be elected. It's the plight that Iranians are faced with should they choose to stand up and speak out for their freedom. It's time for us to wake up from our disturbingly comfortable ignorant stupors and make it our mantle to inform those of us who don't know become more politically aware and in touch with the cultures of others.

Neda was a student and like many young Iranians was gathering with protesters and her father to fight for Iranian political constraints to be relinquished. She was shot down by a hidden sniper (as is now becoming the terrifying trend in Tehran) she symbolised even through peaceful protest defiance against hard line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ignorance is frighteningly celebrated in western culture and it's horrendous that it takes shocking images like this to make us see beyond our own existences and try and wrap our minds around what life means for other people, I know I'm certainly guilty of not paying enough attention. I want to be fair to our generation in the sense that I remember learning about Vietnam and it taking uncensored media in the 60's to make people of our age stand up, take note and use the tools around them to get the message out there and shine a spotlight on the tragic state of affairs... which was the push for change that was needed.

We can't know everything but we do have the Internet a powerful tool of influence that we use to fill our minds with vacuous Perez filled garbage (admittedly he is a fun to loathe) we could spare some time to do our best to get people talking, to eventually use all our voices to pressurise a government keen on oppression to stop the censorship. Iran is made up of 70% of under thirties who've placed themselves at the forefront of protests to strive for their right to choose better futures.

Great posts on My Fucking Redundancy , ATCN & all over Twitter, The Guardian, BBC. Doing something big or small is still a step in the right direction we don't have to be drastic in order for our unified support to be felt.

Words fail me, I cant even express the utter impact this legend has made on the world of music... I reserve the right to retain an air of cliche because I still honestly cannot believe he's dead. Legend completely encompasses the absolute genius that he was, someone even through death that will always remain a poignant and influential figure in the world of music and dance. I'm not a Fiddy fan, he offends me in general... hence why this post is so late as I had to be sure I was ready to expose my eardrums to it but this is more than tolerable... I don't abhor it, I think I actually might venture to say I like it.

I was expecting expensive sounding showy off mahusive bassy beats, the over blinged backdrop to him being an egotistical gun wielding prick (not forgetting to throw in the occasional thick thighed girl). but War Angel is actually not overwhelmingly irritating and there appears to be an effort to reinstate in our minds that the man at one point did have lyrical flow and didn't always regurgitate repetitive questionable and soul destroying content. Get a bit of the fat kid loves cake humour with his interesting British accent in London Girl... amusing, makes for an easy to listen to LP.

Seems to have gone for dissatisfied older wiser rapper not impressed with current state of hip hop in C.R.E.A.M. he slates the skinny jeans and mohawk heads kinda like they're all to blame... and not at all anything to do with the guns, bitches and bling bullshit he often passes off as 'new' content.

Thought provoking? no it is not but definitely quite a few tracks you won't help but naturally gravitate to as the music and his flow culminate and form a classic time... Cocaine Feat Robin Thicke is just a pure and simple good time, C.R.E.A.M. is another track to look out for and the cheesy but entertaining London Girl don't know whether it's to do with the gashley he has in it to splurt out stuff about his penis in our great accent but I'm feeling it. The only problem I'm finding with this album is the more I listen to it, the more I like it so I find myself randomly saying shit like "Redrum redrum one sugar ten shots one gun" damn you Fiddy with your non amazing yet surprisingly catchy and dare I say 'class' lil LP.

Decided to get my arse in gear and arrange what festivals I'm going to in order to get the best out of my summer music wise and holiday wise... New York being a pretty damn good start I've decided that the only logical way is up, that is if god loves me and wants my 21st year to be one without tantrums and sporadic bursts of extreme violence from lack of entertainment... however being the degenerated hobo I appear to be these last few months it's proved fucking hard to plan any events as I've been ridiculously stank with no money in the bank. Trust, it is not as cool as the swizz beats song, just a bum like existence.

In a bid to make monies I've churned out a couple of articles... going to make that magazine I now write for give me money for them so I can fund my trip to Budapest for Sziget in August but for the month of June, it's all about dub... In the spirit of festival fun and the fact I'm not always an antisocial internet freak I'm inviting everyone. If you're reading this consider it an official invite... I forsee MESSYYY times, falling about proclaiming my love for all with emphasis on some sort of profound understanding I'll share with someone over a mutual appreciation for a dirty bassline, a sudden adoration for everything and an increased interest in the feel of different fabrics.

This is the second Dub festival and will be on Friday 12th June with "over 30 of Dubsteps Finest" and only in London Bridge for all you lazy mofos. Mmm beats, hoodies and Shy FX, I'm obviously there. Dubstep Festival is THE ONE.

The Hypermax is the follow-on from last year's Hyperdunk, which if you remember, had the ultra-limited Marty McFly colourway - aka the Hyperdunk 2015. And yes, I'm still fiending for a pair.

At the moment, two colourways have been spotted on the web...

The "Tennis ball" model features a colored upper accented by a white swoosh and white midsole. Nike has even gone to the extent of coating the entire upper in a felt material reminiscent of an actual tennis ball, similar to the ALIFE x Reebok Tennis Pump from a few years back. Another key aspect of this pair is the lack of flywire technology. Defnitely very loud, but I'm down with these...

The second colourway seems to be inspired by the Hyperdunk 2015 - Grey and powder blue, plus the addition of hot pink...Dope.

Now we just need to get them to finally release the Nike Mag.

Relapse Leakage.

First the Xmen Wolverine film, then Cassie's tata's (conveniently timed with her next singing debacle, my girl should stick to the whole black kate moss ish) now Ems Relapse album's leaked... standardly I grabbed my free loving student mitts on it ASAP. Regardless of the best things in life being free, some one is quite blatantly going to get the SACK, shame... leaking a critically acclaimed artist's album a week before it's release= FAIL at job.

Album cover- mosaic of pills to make up his face... got to love the commitment to the prescription drugs.

I've got to be honest I totally expected to hate this album, in fact to be perfectly honest I wanted nothing more than to hate Relapse (haterrrr). I was jamming with everyone else in the hate wagon (you may have heard me say he's probably addicted to robutussin) However Em has managed to weave once again an intricate tapestry of half truths, witty social commentary and painful personal realities; his content, delivery and flow is on point.

As per usual we have some hilarious skits in it, one that I feel particularly highlights the general feel of the album is 'Paul (Skit)'... "ahh em it's paul... ahh I just listened to the entire album and you've got to be fucking kidding me I mean with this Christopher Reeve shit, you know the guys dead right? and then the whole gay stepfather incest rape thing, I don't have your back on this one I can't even fucking handle it. I'm done."

After giving this album a good couple of listens it's reminded me of something that rings true with most tortured artists, musicians and poets (and I guess to a certain degree you and I alike) is as Philip Larkin former poet laureate so eloquently put it, "They Fuck you up your mum and dad, they may not mean to but they do". As you listen to Relapse being familiar with Eminem's family history you see the repercussions of his past seep into his present. He still however manages to forcibly draw you into his subconscious painting twisted scenarios with narrative ease and flair. True to form, he goes hard on a lot of topics and people (OBVIOUSLY his mum) conjoined twins, Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey and a whole host of other females (yeah that's right I AM indeed calling Nick Cannon a lil bitch). Nothing is sacred, I mean this is coming from the man that once said "put anthrax on your tampax and slap you till you can't stand" Though delivering the old Em that we all know and love with surface jokes that teeter on the edge of being criminally insane he conveys using snippets of his past the reason he has a tortured present and most likely future.

Relapse a two part CD largely produced by Dre bar a couple tracks which are either a joint collaboration ('We Made You') or done by Em himself ('Beautiful') brings a completely different sound to the normal Mr. NWA that we're used to but as always with the beats it's an outstanding production, each track following on really nicely. Even though I'm still not feeling 'We Made You' it's clear that Relapse is an undeniably conscientious production. There are so many mentionable tracks in the album it's untrue, 'Hello' Has a great beat and I absolutely love the blues esque piano intro in 'Crack A Bottle', the Dre and Em combo of course delivers to the highest standard... Then enters fuckwit-Fiddy and you're literally sat there BEGGING for him to complete the song but as per usual he's chatting about shit I don't fucking care about and is generally the same shallow boring wasteman thus ruining the ending and depicting tha t he is blatantly only in there on a mates rates policy. 'Old Times Sake' takes us back to the days of 'Guilty Conscious' the dynamic duo back lyrically enthralling the masses- "nah nah he aint playing he gone take the AA and aim it right at your brain" "Dre get on the mic and make them dribble and shake" Dre claims to have the midas touch when rolling in this track (one wonders if he would roll me a splif... hmm ) "if at first you don't suceed, won't hurt to smoke some weed" mm loverly... Heavy beats throughout the album with some awesome bassy tracks like 'Medicine Ball' followed by an example of Em's penchant for the arabic flex, by bringing in a hypnotising arabic flute in 'Bagpipes From Bagdad'

I struggle in part with the whole likening himself to Ted Bundy and other serial rapists/killers as boredom of that route sets in for me but lyrically, I can't fault him at all, mainly because he's not been pressurised by media to stop writing about his past and addresses these criticisms throughout the album, kind of like music therapy (maybe him and Winehouse should hook up). I suppose it can come across as moaning about the same hard life but in order to be a good rapper you need to rap about the shit you actually know in order to convey a certain degree of honesty in your delivery and he had it hard, fact.

Album is deep, with tracks like 'Deja vu' and 'Beautiful' making us question whether no man really is an island. After a 4 year hiatus from music to produce an album with people baying for his blood, Em still manages to confidently take you through his drug problems, addressing his internal and family struggles making Eminem our protagonist in this riveting and crazy circus he calls Relapse, he is our "comedian trapped behind the tears of a clown"

This is an album cover from a new NY Rapper called Donny Goines... This really isn't about him I have no idea whether he's chicken shit or not... It's all about the Album Cover- BIG. Furthermore any interest I have in his music will only be if he's done some sort of crazy hip hop remix to Simple Minds - 'Don't You Forget About Me' ... Might request it, I mean he's already dressed like Bender, my man quite clearly needs to honour this 80's commitment and make the song... mentioning me somewhere as his muse. Yes. That's definitely this artists next step. Why the hell aren't I managing someone!? He's actually ok with his inspirational narrative flow on this track of a kid that chooses the wrong path. Lovely sentiments but quite clearly Donny needs to fix up stop tying to cat Slick Rick, focus less on 'the brother on the run' and more on the 'Eat my shorts' Ethos...

The Cool Kids Mixtape is a fantastic giveaway, so good in fact that it almost feels as though it should be an album (epic in length). With crazy awesome features from Bun B and Ludacris! (on the track 'Pennies remix'). It's no wonder that The Cool Kids are known for their amazing giveaways and the excellence of their quality. Needless to say excitement is fast building about their upcoming EP set to be released this summer... building up a strong following securing it with their quality, style and flair seen in the popularity of their Bake Sale EP and with this latest offering I'm sure plenty are eager for the album to drop.

Over all a good Mixtape the content isn't all too my taste but tracks that I do particularly like are 'Pennies Remix', 'Weekend Girls Feat Ryan Leslie', 'Champions' and 'Jump Rope Feat Tennile' a couple of the other tracks are growers I find but from a track list of 21, thats not bad at all. With talk of a possible video for fans favourite track "Chuckisdopeamazed by the love... Glad yall dig the tape..
